Thorndike GP Practice

The Thorndike Medical Centre is based at Longley Road, Rochester ME1 2TH, serves part of Rochester as well as its surrounding areas. The Thorndike surgery team includes eight GPs, two advanced clinical practitioners, two experienced nurses, two associate practitioners, one healthcare assistants, two secretaries, a practice manager and reception/administrative staff.

Asthma

The asthma clinic provides advice and support and is run by our nurses who specialise in asthma care.

Immunisations

Immunisations are done by the Thorndike practice nurses.

Diabetes

The Pharamacist and ACP are the diabetic leads working closely with Juliette Coomber, this clinic offers advice and general health checks to patients with diabetes.

Family planning

Thorndike offer a full family planning service which includes insertion of coils and implants. We run a separate Implanon surgery for insertions and removals, ask at reception for further information.

Phlebotomy appointment service

Thorndike now have a dedicated phone line for booking blood tests at The Thorndike Surgery. Please call 01634 810814 to book your appointment direct with our surgery. The line is open between 8am and 5pm. (Please note they can only book appointments to have your blood test at this surgery we are unable to book for any other blood test centres)

This number is only to be used for booking blood test appointments and you will be unable to book any other type of appointment on this line.

Minor surgery

If you require a minor operation your doctor will arrange for you to be given an appointment. They offer a range of procedures that can be done here at the surgery including removal of cysts, lipomas, treatment of skin tags and seborrhoeic warts and toe nail surgery.  This service is offered to the non-registered patient, through your GP by letter or using the Choose & Book system.

Smoking cessation

If you wish to give up smoking you can make an appointment with the HCA’s. They run very successful clinic with one to one appointments. They support you throughout your quitting time which means you will have more success at stopping smoking.

If the surgery is closed and you need advice please phone 111. If you have a medical emergency and require immediate attention please phone 999.

Specialist and hospital care

If a GP or another member of our health care team believes you need hospital treatment or specialist care they will discuss your options with you. They may be able to book your appointment electronically while you wait. If you would prefer to have some time to think before deciding where and when to have your treatment, you will be offered the option of booking the appointment at a later date.
